Am I Overweight or Obese?

In many respects what does it matter if you are overweight or obese? If you are overweight by any amount and trying to loose weight then you are already doing something about it. However some people unfortunately need to be told they are officially obese before it sinks in how much they need to change and really take action to gain a healthier lifestyle.

In simple terms Body Mass Index (BMI) is the relationship between your height and your weight. It provides a guide to whether you are underweight, normal, overweight or obese. It is a useful tool for typical body types, although may be of less use for unusual body shapes such as rugby players with large muscle mass or very short people.

The BMI chart shows that if you have a score of 30 or more you are technically obese.
